Author Corrected Information: New text replaces original Statistical Analysis narrative

The statistical software SPSS (Statistical Package for the Social Sciences) version 15.0 was used for data management and analysis. Differences among clinical outcomes were analyzed by the chi-square test. The analysis of variance (One-way ANOVA) test was used to compare means of more than two groups of patients when analyzing continuous variables with normal distribution. Post hoc ANOVA comparisons were made using Bonferroni test. The Kruskal-Wallis test was used to compare means among two or more groups when analyzing continuous variables with non-normal distributions, such as fetal hemoglobin. Multivariate analysis was not performed. P value # .05 was considered statistically significant. The data were analyzed in 2010.
