Welcome to the CME-certified ISHIB Annual Clinical Update "Hypertension and Related Diseases", jointly sponsored by the International Society on Hypertension in Blacks, Inc. (ISHIB) and the American Society of Hypertension, Inc. (ASH).

Statement of Need
Despite tremendous gains in treating many chronic diseases, significant differences in healthcare outcomes continue to persist in certain ethnic minorities. The disparate incidence of heart, kidney, and neurological disease among minority populations signals a gap in US healthcare delivery.

To address ethnic disparities, ISHIB recently convened its 20th annual conference in Puerto Rico. Hypertension and Related Diseases: Control and Prevention in Ethnic Populations Across the Lifespan brought together leading healthcare practitioners, researchers and public from around the world to share ideas and generate solutions to bridge the gap in minority health.

Now, highlights from presentations delivered at ISHIB2005, as well as updates on the most effective strategies for managing hypertension and related diseases, are available in this free CME update.
