ISHIB sponsors continuing education programs that offer the latest research on, and practical approaches to, the prevention, treatment, and control of cardiovascular disease and related risk factors. Through educational meetings and publications, ISHIB works to disseminate the latest findings related to eliminating cardiovascular health disparities among ethnic populations.
Our continuing education programs are offered in collaboration with universities accredited in the provision of CME credits: Emory University Medical School, Medical University of South Carolina, Morehouse School of Medicine, and Wayne State University.
ISHIB has been awarded IACET Authorized Provider status for another 5 years! The International Society on Hypertension in Blacks, Inc. (ISHIB) has been reviewed and approved as an Authorized Provider by the International Association for Continuing Education and Training (IACET), 1620 I Street, NW, Suite 615, Washington, DC 2006. ISHIB is an Authorized Provider of the IACET Continuing Education Unit (CEU) for educational activities for which it sponsors, which it co-sponsors with other IACET Authorized Providers, or jointly sponsors with organizations which are non IACET Authorized Providers.

ISHIB Guidelines Webinars The goal of the Webinar is to disseminate and discuss the ISHIB guidelines to an audience of 150 - 200 clinicians via telephone or E-mail. Each Webinar begins with a summary presentation of the new guidelines and the socio-medical issues that directed their development. An interactive question and answer period follows the presentation. During the Webinar, participants receive audio messages through a toll-free teleconference with moderator and speakers, and view the presentation online.
ISHIB Hypertension Academy Track Series Designed to enhance the professional healthcare provider's knowledge and ability to effectively manage patients with hypertension and all other cardiovascular diseases. The course gives participants the opportunity to study new findings and participate in discussions on the latest scientific discoveries in the area of hypertension and related risk factors. The ISHIB Hypertension Academy covers current didactic and practical information on the diagnostic and therapeutic principles for the patient with hypertension, methods of treating patients with hypertension and diabetes mellitus, diagnostic and therapeutic approaches to treating patients with kidney function, and current therapeutic controversies in hypertension management and more. This course may be especially useful for those preparing to take the American Society of Hypertension's Specialist examination. ISHIB Hypertension Best Practices Program The goal of the ISHIB Hypertension Best Practices Program is to focus on steps that can be taken to ensure the more effective translation of the best-known clinical science as it relates to treating the appropriate individuals with elevated Blood Pressure. Such efforts will increase the number of patients with elevated Blood Pressure in whom treatment is initiated and will increase the numbers attaining goal Blood Pressure through better clinical decision-making. The improved clinical decision-making will occur as a result of the development and implementation of "systems" support in the practice environment, ongoing web-based CME/CEU provider education, and patient education and activation. The ISHIB Best Practices Program certification will become the industry standard for cardiologists, primary care physicians, and others in the field of hypertension.
ISHIB Regional Symposium Series This series of symposia is designed for physicians and other health care professionals, particularly those who manage patients at high risk for cardiovascular disease. The goal of the ISHIB Regional Special Symposium Series is to address the use of specific pharmacological therapy in ethnic populations for all cardiovascular-related conditions (e.g., stroke, diabetes, lipid disorders, renal disease) and other health disparities as they affect all ethnic minority populations. Consistent with ISHIB's mission, and together with our partner, these programs will reflect current and future therapies relevant to clinical, research and education activities that will impact quality of life issues in the ethnic patient population.
